Biography

Dr. Brighton Chireka was born in Bindura, Zimbabwe in 1973. He trained at the University of Zimbabwe’s Medical School where he qualified as a Doctor in November 1997. He worked in Zimbabwe for two years before moving to the UK in 2000. He is now a General Practitioner (GP) partner at Manor Clinic in Folkestone, Kent, UK. He is also a Clinical Lead in Child Health and Maternity Services for South Kent Coast Clinical Commissioning Group which covers 31 GP practices with a population of around 200 thousand patients.

STARKMEDITRIP

Dr Chireka is involved in fundraising activities to help people get medical treatment abroad. He is the Director of Beepee trading Ltd a company that specialised in beauty, hair services and health and has opened the first European and Afro Caribbean hair saloon in Canterbury Kent. In addition to his academic achievements, Dr Chireka holds a Diploma in Occupational Medicine and A Diploma from The Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He is also a member of The Royal College of General Practitioners in UK. With his never –ending thirst for knowledge, He was awarded in January 2015 the NHS Leadership Academy Award in Executive Healthcare Leadership. He is an associate member of World Medical Association and also is a member of British Medical Association as well as the Institute of Medical Ethics. Dr Brighton Chireka is one of the founder members and trustee of Zimbabwe Health Training Support (ZHTS), a UK based charity supporting health training in Zimbabwe.

Dr Chireka is also an evangelist at London Branch of St John Apostolic Church on the Whole World. He is also an online health columnist for NEWZIMBABWE.COM and he has over 25 thousand likes on his Facebook page. NOTHING ABOUT ME WITHOUT ME due to the popularity of his work. Brighton was voted as the winner for the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards 2015 UK Community Champion for his involvement in charity work.

ZIMBABWE ACHIEVERS AWARDS

His academic interests include medical leadership, medical ethics, medical education, child health and maternity services. He is married with two children and he invests some of his time watching sports. He is a season ticket holder of one of the premier football league team in the UK. Dr Chireka is currently studying French and Hebrew languages.
